The goal of this workshop is to raise awareness of ethical considerations caused by the rapid technological advancements of the digital age so accounting and finance professionals can maintain the standards set out in the IMA Statement of Ethical Professional Practice and use its framework to make good, ethical judgements. 

Learning Objectives:

After this session, you will be able to: Define the purpose of select emerging technologies as applied in accounting and finance.

  1. Identify examples of ethical challenges posed by the implementation of emerging technologies in accounting and finance.
  2. Describe how risks associated with emerging technologies relate to the IMA Statement of Ethical Professional Practice.
  3. Explain the ethical considerations needed to govern and manage data.
  4. Recognize how these ethical implications have created a need for upskilling across the accounting and finance profession.

Speaker:

Jennifer Pinder, CMA, MBA, is a seasoned financial leader and mentor, currently serving as Controller at Watchdog USA in Philadelphia. With over a decade of experience in accounting leadership and another decade as a small business owner, she brings a unique blend of entrepreneurial insight and financial expertise to her work.

Jennifer is deeply involved in the accounting and finance community. She serves on the Board of the IMA Greater Philadelphia Chapter, contributes to the global VEC Committee, and leads as Community Admin for the Small Business Special Interest Group. She’s also an active member of Financial Executives International and a dedicated mentor to aspiring accountants and students, sharing her knowledge to help shape future financial leaders.

Her commitment to service extends beyond the profession. Jennifer volunteers weekly at LUCY Outreach in Camden, NJ, supporting youth development, and was honored with a star on the South Jersey Volunteer Walk of Fame in 2024. She also manages a hobby farm in southwestern New Jersey, where she lives with her family, 20 chickens, and her cat, Gracie.

Jennifer’s journey, from retail entrepreneurship to corporate finance, reflects resilience, adaptability, and a passion for solving real-world challenges. Her engaging speaking style and authentic storytelling make her a sought-after presenter on topics like financial storytelling, mentoring, and leadership.
